School Assemblies
Once again we are facing alcohol as the drug of choice by many high school students. A small percentage experiment with, and to some extent, use other substances on a regular or semi regular basis. As you know, peer pressure is one of the main reasons a student gets involved with alcohol or another controlled substance and soon finds himself/herself addicted. Over the past ten years, I have been doing over two hundred and fifty presentations each year and fifty percent of those are done at the high school level. During this all school assembly, I teach and entertain at the same time, thus holding the audience's attention. I inform them about a number of key issues which include: alcohol and substance abuse (cause, effect, and prevention), how to improve self-concept, develop self-responsibility and the value of taking control over one's life. I also give them information on how to utilize one hundred percent of their potential to lead more productive lives. The presentation involves audience participation, can be utilized with students sixth through twelfth grade, is always tastefully done, enjoyed by all, and used with four hundred to three thousand students at one time.
At the present time, I have a ninety-five percent re-book rate and am regularly used as an assembly keynote speaker. I am also booked for after prom and graduation parties and other special events held both in and outside the school setting. In many cases, the presentation can be funded by an ADOE Grant and leaves a lasting impression on everyone who witnesses it. The assembly can also be done in conjunction with a night program utilized as a fundraising activity.
